Here’s why Karachi’s Haji gym is no ordinary place

How many gyms in the world can boast that they hosted the greatest boxer of all time? Not many. Haji’s gym located in Karachi is one of them.

In October 1988, Muhammad Ali, visited Haji’s Health Academy, then known as one of the largest gyms in Asia. A Karachi resident, Sibtain Naqvi, wrote a blog about that day when “the Greatest had come to my mohalla [neighbourhood] and his memory would live on forever.”

The late Haji Sahab established this impressive facility in Federal B area in the 1970s.

VCast Online recently visited the premises and spoke to Haji Sahab’s sons and a few of the gym’s loyal patrons. Watch this video to learn more about this unique gym that holds a special place in the hearts of hundreds, if not thousands, of Karachi’s residents.
