How a “life-saving” phone app aims to rid Pakistanis of living in fear
Published on: May 21, 2018
The attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in December 2014 completely shook Fahd Khan, who felt something must be done to reduce the level of fear in a society where life could be at risk anywhere. There was also a realisation that Pakistan does not have dependable rescue services and emergencies are rarely handled well. So he put all his life savings into an app that allows users to contact their trusted ones in an emergency.
Whether you are stuck in a house fire, a road accident or were caught in a terrorist attack, the app can help you reach out for help simultaneously to family, friends and neighbours as well as the team of Mohafiz volunteers, which are now a 137,000 strong force.
